Iown a FORD LASER 87,this problem just happen few weeks ago, especialy when the engine is hot once stop ,turn off the engine and restar sometime it sound like the battery dead but it's not,i suggest it because of the starter,do i need a relay to boost the volt or just give the starter a service?what do u think? |

Ok,
I'm not familiar with Ford. In US, I never heard of Ford Laser ... does it have a Mazda engine in it? If yes, then it's prolly a Ford Probe in US. Go back to your problem, U said after the engine runs HOT then it's hard to start it back right? I'm assuming that U do not have any problem with cold engine. I'm not sure what U mean by "it sound like the battery dead" but U already checked the battery and it's ok right? From the above correct assumptions, I draw some conclusions about ur problem: 1) starter - U can test if the starter is bad by using a big stick (wheel jack) and knock on it (the starter regulator) few times, if the car starts right away after knocking, the regulator is bad and need to be changed. In this car, starter and regulator goes together (it might be separated) so U might need to buy both. 2) Your main relay is faulty. Relay is a tricky piece of art. It can be pain when sometimes it works and other times doesn't. 3) Ur distributor is acting up. I've seen few cars do not want to start due to HOT engine and the magnetic pieces inside the distributor core somehow do not line up right and do not start. But this is a rare occassion.
